Truancy is a regional/national problem many schools face. The Christchurch District Truancy Service Charitable Trust is the governing body funded by the MOE to provide a Truancy Service to Christchurch schools. The area extends from central Christchurch to surrounding areas including Banks Peninsula, Belfast, Diamond Harbour and Lincoln. The 198 schools are serviced by 4 fulltime and 1 part time truancy officers working with students, families and schools to ensure enrolled students are attending school.
